Richardson Olmsted Complex – Hotel Henry

Bill Jones was deeply involved in the entire 8 year planning and construction of the new Hotel Henry located on the Richardson Olmsted Campus.

The first phase of this historic preservation project was completed several years ago. This included a multi-million dollar restoration of the original Olmstead designed landscape known as the “South Lawn”. In April of 2017 at a cost of about $70,000,000, the second phase of the project was opened to the public. This phase included the complete restoration of the three central buildings on the campus. This adaptive reuse project, maybe the first of its kind anywhere, houses hotel rooms, 300 seat ballroom, multiple restaurants and conference rooms as well as the Buffalo Architectural Center. The remaining 60{73bffd8a2c50eef50316c349a85c8c1ffe4092540fbea2729c09e95ba03c361d} of the campus will be developed under future phases likely by a private developer.

This was truly a unique design/ build project from the start. Former modifications were demolished in this 1940 vintage building known as “Hangar 6” to make way for this new project consisting of office space and a multi-airplane hangar. CityView retained the services of Inside Designs Buffalo to determine the client’s needs in all aspects of this project. Once the design was complete, a formal submission was made to the NFTA for approval. This included all aspects of the project including general construction, fire protection, electrical, security, HVAC, and plumbing. All building submissions, inspections, and final approvals were handled by CityView. Project cost was $500,000.
